Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said it would have been logical to choose municipal councilors as well in the new elections that will be held in Chisinau and Balti municipalities on May 20 and the councilors would have been elected for a term of four years. The issue was developed in the talk show “Important” on TVC21 channel, IPN reports.
According to him, the communication between the mayor and the Council is very important. The views of the political groups on the Council and of the mayor are often different and the cooperation will also be difficult. The ten months that the mayor chosen in the new elections will have at the disposal is a too short term for implementing serious plans.
The acting mayor noted the European People’s Party of Moldova that he represents didn’t field an own candidate for mayoralty because it is difficult to hold the post during ten months only. “It is simply useless to venture into something like this now,” stated Ruslan Codreanu.
