Salaries of public servants will be raised

The pays of public servants will be increased by 12.5% on average from April, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a Government Decision of May 23. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga said that the rose for the servants of the local public authorities will be 30-40% given that they had been disadvantaged during many years in relation to the colleagues from the central administration. The new mechanism is designed to support the young specialists and persons who were earlier paid according to inferior salary grades. The public servant’s salary for position will include the basic salary, the bonus for length of service, the bonus for competence and the prize for current activity. There were instituted 23 salary grades, depending on the responsibility and complexity of the duties of the job. The pays of civil servants with higher education will oscillate between 2,200 and 10,140 lei, while the coefficient for the servants without higher education will be 0.95, according to the held degrees and the salary grades. The new remuneration conditions apply to 19,000 employees of the central and local public authorities, the Constitutional Court, the courts of law and the Prosecutor’s Office. A sum of 270 million lei was earmarked for raising salaries.
