Sales in electronic communications sector go up

Sales in the electronic communications sector in April – June this year rose by 14.8% compared with the corresponding period last year, to 1.742 billion lei, shows a report by the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology (ANRCETI) that was published on September 10, IPN reports.

Increases were reported on all the market segments, except for the landline telephone services where sales fell by 9.5% to 248.5 million lei. Sales of mobile phone services rose by 1.2% to 897.6 million lei, which is the largest volume among all the electronic communications services.

Sales of Internet access and data transfer services grew by over 20% to 247.8 million lei, of dedicated mobile broadband access services by 8.7% to 71.6 million, while of broadcasting services by 3.4% to 87.9 million lei. The incomes from the other electronic communications services totaled 189.3 million lei.

By the average monthly revenue per user (ARPU), the fixed and dedicated mobile Internet access service providers are leading with 159.83 lei and 87.3 lei respectively. They are followed by the landline phone providers with an ARPU of 67.8 lei a month, mobile service providers – of 67.3 lei and pay television providers – of 52.09 lei.
