The mayor’s office of Sangera town was obliged by the court to pay 5,000 lei damages to a pensioner who is a first-degree invalid. The man filed a complaint to the Prosecutor’s Office after the local authorities could not provide a service which he asked for, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Botanica Prosecutor’s Office, the pensioner, who is blind, in 2010 asked the mayor’s office to demarcate the borders of the farmland that he received as inheritance from his mother. The mayor’s office took no steps and the man filed an application to the institution last November, but received no answer. He thus lodged a similar application to the local public administration. The man received an answer this February, more than half a year after he filed the first application. He was informed that the mayor’s office does not have specialists in the field and thus his request wasn’t granted. Therefore, he appealed to the Prosecutor’s Office, which filed a civil lawsuit against the mayor’s office. The Botanica district court ruled that the inaction of the officials of the Sangera mayor’s office was illegal and awarded damages to the plaintiff.
