School uniforms may be restored

Students of preuniversity education institutions may be obliged to wear school uniforms. The president of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova Gheorghe Duca submitted a relevant initiative to the Government on September 14, Info-Prim Neo reports. Under the initiative, the administration of the education institutions, the parents and students will have the right and freedom to select the material, design, color and emblem of the school uniform on condition that it is obligatory for all the students of the given school, is comfortable and practical, and meets the sanitary-hygienic norms. “School education does not mean only studies and elementary knowledge. It includes a series of factors such as the level of intelligence, the environment at school and the daily and festive clothes of the students, which make the students more disciplined and responsible and proud of being part of a group and an education institution, and motivate them to study well and have an exemplary behavior at school and outside it,” Gheorghe Duca says in his initiative. The president of the Academy of Sciences considers the students wearing uniform take the school more seriously and adopt a certain conduct imposed by it. The initiative aims to eliminate the discrimination of children by criteria related to clothing. Gheorghe Duca sought the support of the Head of Parliament and the Prime Minister.
