The parents will be able to obtain online information about the budgets and spending of schools and about the results of school exams and district and national average grades through the platform http://scoalamea.md/ that was created by the independent think tank “Expert-Grup” with the support of the Global Partnership for Social Responsibility, administered by the World Bank, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the WB.
“Moldova was one of the first countries that joined the Global Partnership for Social Responsibility. The public institutions work best when the people can see what they do. Thus, the World Bank helps the parents and communities to analyze the data about the schools attended by their children. This way the schools are really responsible towards the ordinary people,” said Alexander Kremer, WB Country Director for Moldova.
“Expert-Grup” project coordinator Victoria Vlad said the platform “My School” provides information about the functioning, budgets and performance of schools for students, parents, teachers and the whole community. This information can be used in the policy dialogue, budget planning and setting of development priorities at school level.
Since Moldova joined the World Bank in 1992, over US$1 billion has been allocated to 49 projects in the country. Currently, the World Bank portfolio includes 8 active projects with a total commitment of US$235.2 million.
