The Superior Council of Magistracy announced a competition for the selection of a member of the SCM from among the judges of courts of appeals. A relevant decision was approved at a meeting on Tuesday, IPN reports.
The Council urges all interested judges to become actively involved in the selection process and to participate in these procedures in accordance with the current regulations.
The SCM member who will be chosen from among judges of courts of appeals will be the last member needed to ensure the full composition of the Council.
The Superior Council of Magistracy consists of six judges elected by secret ballot by the General Assembly of Judges. These are four judges from courts of first instance, one judge from courts of appeals and one judge from the Supreme Court of Justice. Also, the SCM includes six non-judges, appointed by the Parliament.
