Law enforcement officers searched this morning the restaurant cars of trains operating outside the Republic of Moldova. The conducted searches targeted the transportation of alcoholic beverages and other goods on the basis of falsified documents.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the criminal case refers to the offence of making, holding, selling or using false official documents, stamps or seals.
Contacted by IPN, the prosecutor of Chisinau municipality, Stefan Șaptefrați, stated that no one was arrested following the searches. The prosecutor refused to say what the law enforcement officers had discovered, invoking the secret of the investigation.
The CFM/ Railway responded in a press release, stating that the searches were a prompt reaction to the request of the company’s Internal Security Service submitted to the law enforcement bodies. The request was aimed at holding accountable the CFM employees who were suspected of abuse of office with a view to appropriate CFM financial means.
