Sector head's offices will cover the expenses for the set up and sanitation of spaces where fruit and vegetable fairs will be held in order to help local farmers hit by the Russian embargo. The announcement was made by Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca at the City Hall meeting, IPN reports.

Chirtoaca said up to five places in each sector will be proposed for the sale of fruits and vegetables, until the Wine Day or the City Day. If needed, the time will be extended.

The mayor also came up with the idea to move the wholesale market from Albisoara Street to Carbunarilor Street. Vendors who accept the proposal will be allowed to sell directly from vehicles, without paying any marketplace fees. “Considering that the Carbunarilor market is empty, it can very well be an wholesale market where people can come, free of charge, and sell from their vehicles, and the lands currently occupied by wholesale markets can be preserved”, said Chirtoaca.

The official explained that the vendors and administrators from the Albisoara market mustn't take this as an attempt to hinder their business, but on the contrary, the authorities' goal is to offer them better conditions for work.
