Sergiu Coropceanu: Wish to remain in power determined Bodiu’s withdrawal

The wish to remain in power and control the power made the PLDM to withdraw Victor Bodiu from the electoral race for the mayoralty of Chisinau, the Social Democratic Party’s candidate for mayor Sergiu Coropceanu stated for Info-Prim Neo. “The campaign is harsh and dirty and the Alliance for European Integration risked falling apart after the local elections. This move confirms that the given persons do not care about the inhabitants of Chisinau municipality as they entered the competition only to defend the narrow interests of their parties and the financial groups that control them,” said Sergiu Coropceanu. He also said that if certain goals hadn’t been pursued, the candidates would have conducted the election campaign honorably and with respect towards the voters and would have fulfilled their promises. “We cannot believe them when they try to hide behind artificial arguments. It means that they pursued hidden interests in the election campaign” said Sergiu Coropceanu. On May 6, the Liberal Democratic Party announced that it decided to withdraw Victor Bodiu from the electoral race and throw support to the current Liberal mayor Dorin Chirtoaca. Thus, there will be 14 candidates instead of 15 in the ballot.
