The service members will continue work on Easter, including on the Resurrection Night. “I ask you to show respect and understanding towards our soldiers and to comply with the restrictions imposed by the authorities in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Minister of Defense Alexandru Pînzari, being quoted by IPN.
In a press briefing on April 17, the minister said 120 service members are patrolling daily in Chisinau, Balţi and Cahul. These will be on duty on Easter too. “I perfectly understand that you would like to go to the church, to visit your parents and relatives. But this year our priority and responsibility is the personal and public health,” stated Alexandru Pînzari.
In connection with the epidemiological situation in the country, the Ministry of Defense and the National Army spent 900,000 lei on antiviral drugs and disinfectants. There is no case of infection among doctors and medical personnel of the Military Clinical Hospital. Over 200 persons with symptoms of COVID-19 were admitted to the hospital and tested. The minister said a female employee of a unit based in Cahul was infected. She now feels well and is to be discharged in several days.
