Seven suspected burglars to stand trial

Seven persons accused of committing burglaries and thefts were brought to justice, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the General Prosecutor’s Office, at the start of 2010 two of the accused persons, after serving sentences for offenses committed earlier, recruited persons for committing robberies and thefts. During December 2010 – June 2011, the members of the group robbed five dwellings in Donduseni, Drochia, Soroca and an apartment situated on Ciocarliei St in Chisinau. They tortured and immobilized nine victims and stole property and money in extremely large amounts. The stolen property was sold, while the obtained money was shared depending on the contribution of each of the group’s member. The damage caused to the victims was assessed at about 1.5 million lei. The members of the group were caught in the act of preparing the sixth burglary of a house located in Ialoveni in June.
