Moldova's champion Sheriff Tiraspol Thursday lost to Fenerbahce Istanbul by 0-1 at home. This is the first defeat suffered by Sheriff in the UEFA Europa League, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The first half of the match was balanced. Both of the teams had occasions for scoring, but did not manage to. The guests started the second half more actively and soon opened the score through Brasilia's Alex. The goal did not yet discourage the Tiraspol team. They created many possibilities and were close to scoring through Alexandru Suvorov, Amat Diedhiou and Vaja Tarhnishvili. But the scoreline remained unchanged.
The match played on Sheriff Stadium in Tiraspol was watched by about 13,000 spectators.
