The signing of the Association Agreement with the EU is a historical mistake with enormous risks for Moldova, said the leader of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) Igor Dodon. In a press briefing, the politician compared the signing of the accord with the start of the Nistru war of 1992, IPN reports.
Dodon said the Socialists collected over 1 million signatures in support of the Customs Union. But the current administration continued to take steps to sign the accord. The government must assume responsibility for the consequences of this step because it didn’t consult the people before taking this decision.
Igor Dodon called on all the citizens who do not accept the signing of the Association Agreement and who think that Moldova’s future is near Russia not to vote for the parties of the government coalition in the next elections.
The politician said that the Socialists mount and will continue to mount peaceful protests in Moldova and in Brussels. “The Socialists demonstrate peacefully against a hand of politicians who irresponsibly take decisions to the detriment of the majority of the population,” stated Igor Dodon.
Moldova signed the Association Agreement with the EU on June 27.
