Acting mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu admits that there are anti-icing related problems in the capital city, but says that the authorities do not have modern equipment and are obliged to cope with the available personnel. According to her, the employees work, but time is needed to bring things in order. Replying to Liberal councilors’ accusations, Silvia Radu said the Liberals left an administration on its knees, IPN reports, with reference to a press statement issued by the acting mayor.
“During the last ten years, the Liberals haven’t purchased any modern snowplow. The blame for the fact that we now work only with old equipment that should have been replaced long ago is borne by the Liberals only. They have been busy more with corruption schemes and had other interests and didn’t care how the city looked like until now. If they hadn’t wasted the public budget and neglected the people, today we could have had modern vehicles to ensure more efficient de-icing and anti-icing,” stated Silvia Radu.
According to her, the Liberals are very impudent. “This year was the first year in the past 20 years when snow was gathered in yards and taken to a special place. During the previous years, no such orders were made as they didn’t think that the yards of apartment buildings should also be cleared of snow,” says the statement.
The councilors of the Liberal Party on the Chisinau Municipal Council criticized acting mayor Silvia Radu for the way in which she organized the snow clearing. They said the situation continues to be disastrous one week of the last snowfall. According to them, the suspended mayor Dorin Chirtoaca after the heavy snowfalls of last April managed to unblock the city within less than 24 hours with the same resources.
