Independent candidate for mayor of Chisinau Silvia Radu said that she voted for the citizens of the capital city to have a manager who would work for the city and would continue the changes initiated at the City Hall, IPN reports.
“I think the change is the real stake of these electons and today is the day when the citizens of Chisinau can take the capital city back and can choose a manager who would work for the city,” Silvia Radu stated after voting together with her family.
The candidate’s husband Virgiliu Radu said the worthy one should win so that the people live in a city that they deserve. He wished good luck to his wife, noting he is aware that if she wins the elections, she will devote more time to the City Hall. He said that as all the residents of Chisinau, he wants a comfortable city where it would be pleasant to work and live and where the children would feel well.
Eleven candidates are contending for the mayoralty of Chisinau. For the elections to be valid, the voter turnout should be of at least one fourth of the voters. The candidate who gains more than half of the votes wins the elections. If no one gathers the necessary number of votes, runoffs are held in two weeks for the two candidates who obtained most of the votes. If the elections are invalidated or nullified, they are rerun in two weeks based on the same voter rolls and with the same candidates.
