Singer and composer Anatol Dumitras passed away. The artist’s colleagues said that this is a huge loss for the world of music of Moldova. The people can say goodbye to the artist starting with the evening of June 15, when the singer’s body will be laid at the Monastery “Saint Great Martyr Teodor Tiron – Ciuflea” in Chisinau.

Contacted by IPN, the acting head of the Union of Musicians and Composers Leonid Gorceac said that he lately kept in touch with the wife and children of Anatol Dumitras and inquired about his state of health. “It is a great loss for us because he was an excellent singer, musician and author of many pieces of music. Last November, we collected all his songs for the Ministry of Culture and remained impressed by the large number of songs written by Anatolie Dumitras that are performed by different singers,” he stated.

Anatol Dumitras was born on November 14, 1955. He suffered from an incurable disease. The artist will be buried at the Central Cemetery on Armeneasca St in Chisinau on June 16.

In 1982, the artist started his musical career as a soloist of the band “Bucuria” (“Joy”). He was awarded the honorific title of Master of Arts. Among his most famous songs are “Sweet is the Wine”, “Police Officer” and “Wheel of Life”. In 2012, Anatol Dumitras was conferred the title of People’s Artist.
