Six legal cases over meat smuggling sent to court

The Prosecutor General's Office (PG) and the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime completed the investigations into six cases of meat smuggling, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the PG says the investigations covered the following companies: “Edlandlux”, “Grusimpex”, “Prodpozitiv”, “Atriplex Impex”, “Damid Prim” and “Prodvestgrup”. After examining the import customs declarations and the attached documents, it was established that “Grusimpex” imported illegally 6.497,5 tonnes of meat, while the other companies lower quantities. The six companies are liable to 3 to 10 years in jail, fines of 100,000 to 200,000 lei and will be banned from carrying out particular activities.
