Six former and current employees of the Ministry of Home Affairs were arrested on suspicion that they fabricated a criminal case concerning a sexual offense that was allegedly committed by former employee of the Ministry Gheorghe Petic, an activist of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, IPN reports.
The Security and Intelligence Service said the suspects, using their special status, recruited a person to denounce the supposed offense and helped this to falsify evidence by using special equipment.
The suspects face jail terms of two to seven years and ban on holding particular posts for a period of five to ten years.
In July 2019, after nine months in detention, the PPPDA activist Gheorghe Petic was set free after judges of the Chisinau City Appeals Court ordered to retry the case in which he was convicted.
