Social Inclusion Week takes place in Moldova

Activities to socially integrate the persons with disabilities will be carried out at national and local levels from November 29 until December 3. Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Valentina Buliga told a news conference that the events precede the International Day of Persons with Disabilities marked on December 3. The activities include roundtable meetings and seminars to discuss the rights of this group of people, the alternative community services, the social assistance necessities and the provision of benefits. The Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family houses an exhibition of photographs taken by children with disabilities. A thematic exhibit was mounted at the Youth Center ARTICO. Checkers, bocca and darts competitions will be held at the Center on December 1. Resources Centers for Inclusive Education will be opened in Magdacesti, Criuleni and in Hlinaia, Edinet on December 1 and, respectively, December 2. A new social service called “Mobile Team” will be launched within the Public Association “Somato” in partnership with the Balti City Hall and with support from the Inclusive Community – Moldova Project on December 2. The same day, the National Philharmonic “Sergey Lunkevich” will host the festival “I want to be a star too”. Sale-exhibitions of works made by disabled persons will be staged at the Palace of the Republic on December 3. According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Protection and Family, there are 176,253 persons with disabilities in Moldova at present.
