The Socialist councilors anticipate the suspended mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca will not be convicted because he provided lots of land to prosecutors and judges, IPN reports.

Councilor Alexandr Odintsov told a news conference that everyone speaks about the case of pay parking lots in which Dorin Chirtoaca is involved, but nobody speaks about the second criminal case featuring him, the one concerning compensations provided to employees of the law enforcement bodies for purchasing homes. Such transactions were concluded with 81 persons. The problem is that the order of the mayor wasn’t approved by the Municipal Council and 69 million lei was illegally allocated from the municipal budget as a result. It’s clear that this is abuse of power.

Alexandr Odintsov also said that Dorin Chirtoaca in another case facilitated the obtaining of plots for building homes on them by prosecutors and judges and these will not thus convict the mayor in exchange for these benefits.

Councilor Victor Poleakov stated that Dorin Chirtoaca could return to the City Hall if the people do not dismiss him by referendum. In this connection, the Socialists repeatedly called on the voters from Chisinau to take part in the November 19 referendum.

On November 10, after staying for over five months under house arrest, Dorin Chirtoaca was released under judicial control. He cannot go to work or to places where persons involved in the case can be and should appear before judges whenever he is summoned.
