The Party of Socialist staged a protest at the head office of the National Agency for Energy Regulation against the expected rise in electric power tariffs. According to the party, the Ministry of Economy signed an illegal agreement with Union Fenosa, whereby it recognizes the company’s network losses at a time when this makes enormous profit, IPN reports.

The Socialists said Union Fenosa’s request to increase the power tariffs by 30-40% will have dramatic consequences for the people. According to Socialist MP Vlad Batrancea, the Agency should initiate an international audit at Union Fenosa. The Socialists demand that the National Anticorruption Center should also carry out an inspection to identify hidden interests, fraudulent schemes, illegal commissions, etc.

The Socialists noted that the power supplier Termoelectrica also asked for a higher tariff of 179.51 bani per 1 kw/h, which is by 12.3% more than the current tariff.
