Socialist MP Adrian Lebedinscki said the ecological situation in the Byk River basin on the territory of Chisinau municipality is deplorable and appeared as a result of the carelessness of people who throw waste near the river or into the water and because business entities allow wastewater to be discharged into the river, IPN reports.
In a news conference, Adrian Lebedinski gave the example of the industrial area Pruncul, where a barrage of building materials appeared and this prevents the water from flowing freely. Other types of waste, such as PETs, also form barrages.
The MP said the Party of Socialists suggests carrying out a feasibility study and implementing technical projects where these are needed, for water supply and sewerage systems and for wastewater treatment systems. The solid and organic waste should be managed appropriately, in accordance with the existing standards.
According to Adrian Lebedinski, emphasis is placed on the construction of modern installations or the reconstruction of existing installations. The sewerage system should be extended and renovated and water treatment stations should be built in the localities of Chisinau municipality where such systems do not exist. The water supply and sewerage service and also wastewater treatment service should be created or conceded in each locality of the municipality.
The MP noted that the State Ecological Agency should carry out inspections at all the business entities operating near the Byk River. Where irregularities are identified, time limits should be set for removing these or penalties should be imposed.
