The Socialist MPs will not vote the budgetary-fiscal and customs policy for this year. In a news conference, Socialists said the government’s proposals impoverish the people with the aim of collecting the necessary amounts into the state budget. According to them, many proposals will further affect the already seriously stricken Moldovan economy, IPN reports.
The Party of Socialists’ chairman Igor Dodon said the economic situation in Moldova is close to a collapse. “The conditions in which the national producers work are catastrophic. Last year the agricultural production was by 14% lower. The investments fell by 9%, remittances by one third, while foreign investment by 60%. The national public budget failed to collect about 3 billion lei of the planed amount,” he stated.
The politician noted that now the government imposes a new tax on property that is over 120 square meters in area. “In villages, all the houses are over 120 square meters in area. They impose a tax on all the peasants. They also suggest leasing out the land managed by the customs offices near the border without specifying who will have the right to rent this,” said Igor Dodon.
Socialist Zinaida Grecheanyi said the budgetary-fiscal policy actually does not stimulate development and economic growth. “The purchasing power of the people decreased significantly. To bring investment and to put all the business entities in equal conditions, we suggest introducing a zero tax on income if this income is reinvested in the own business. It is obvious in the budgetary-fiscal policy that the authorities are badly in need of money,” she stated.
The Socialists will not vote for this policy and propose alternatives. They consider that three major steps should be taken: to streamline the budgetary-fiscal and customs policy; to restore the economic relations with Russia, and to revitalize remittances and foreign investment so as to improve infrastructure.
