Members of the Youth Guard of the Socialists brought a set of Bibles to the Palace of the Republic in order to hand them over to lawmakers. The event was aimed at sensitizing the MPs to the effects of the antidiscrimination bill that is to be debated in Parliament soon, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Socialists, the bill contains unacceptable provisions for a state with Christian traditions like Moldova. The protesters carried placards with the messages: “We do not want homosexual principles and values”, “We want mother and father, not parent 1 and parent 2”, “We do not accept blackmail”, and “Moldova has Christina morals at roots.” “The adoption of this law is a first step towards the propagation of immoral values. It will allow the persons with nontraditional sexual orientation to propagate their values. We want to give by a Bible to the MPs so that they remember the values cultivated by their parents and grandparents,” said Vasile Bolea, a member of the Youth Guard. Ghenadie Chernyi said that this law is amoral and should not be passed as it will enable the homosexuals to show themselves. The effects of this law, if it is adopted, will be destructive. Passing the Antidiscrimination Law is a condition imposed by the EU for liberalizing the visa regime.
