The state budget sustains annually losses of over 1 billion lei owing to accounting mistakes made by administrators of commercial and agricultural markets. A sum of 340 million lei failed to be collected into the budget of Chisinau municipality in the first nine months of this year after the administrators of the 22 markets of Chisinau didn’t pay taxes. The figures were presented in a news conference by the head of the public association “League of Reforming Economists” Nicolae Botnaru, IPN reports.

According to him, during nine months more than 80 economists who are members of the association carried out inspections in the commercial and agricultural markets of Chisinau and other settlements. They established that most of the traders work without cash registers and with expired authorizations or patents. The minimum sanitary conditions in the meat and dairy products halls are not respected and this can lead to an epidemic in the capital city.

Employees of the Public Health Center do not have access to the Central Market of Chisinau to subject products sold there to laboratory analyses. This issue is hushed up by the administration, which has connections in the police, said Nicolae Botnaru.

The data collected in all the markets of the country showed that accounting mistakes of over 1 billion lei are made annually by selling different types of goods without paying taxes on them.
