The new state security strategy will be finalized and submitted to the Supreme Security Council for examination by the end of this month, adviser at the Supreme Security Council Andrei Curararu said in program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1.

“The document will be presented with delay as we wanted it to be relevant both for the political class and for civil society. The new draft state security strategy has six priorities: rule of law and people’s confidence in state institutions; good governance; fight against corruption; transparency and efficiency of decisions, development of sustainable economy and of the military defense capacity,” stated Andrei Curararu.

Elena Marzac, director of the NATO Information and Documentation Center in Moldova, said she approves of the draft security strategy. “It is an exhaustive political document. It is harder to work out such documents given the geopolitical context, the internal situation in the Republic of Moldova and the division of society,” she stated.

Colonel in reserve Andrei Covrig considers work should be yet done on the draft. “When we refer to state security, we do not refer only to the military. The conception of security also covers the economic, financial, energy, food and other types of security. It is evident that this document was drawn up by one person and is individualized. The draft should be improved. We have very good security experts and these should be engaged,” he said.
