The Moldovans who do not have a job, including those who returned from abroad, can receive unemployment benefit in the amount of 2,775 lei a month either they paid insurance contributions during the past 12 months or not. The benefit will be paid to all the jobless persons in Moldova during the state of emergency, IPN reports.

“The right to unemployment benefit is set based on an application submitted to the local subdivision of the National Employment Agency and is equal to 2,775 lei. This sum represents the guaranteed minimum in the real sector,” said Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu. “In order to increase the protection of the unemployed, the persons who already receive such benefit will be guaranteed a minimum of 2,775 lei.”

National Employment Agency director Raisa Dogaru said that those who want to benefit from such assistance must go to the closest subdivision of the Agency. “We have two categories of persons who are entitled to unemployment benefit: persons who have insurance period and persons who do not have insurance period. The persons who have insurance period enjoy this right by law. Derogation from the general rule is allowed in the case of the persons who returned from abroad or who do not have a job so that they do not need to have this insurance period or length of service. The measure is designed to support the persons who are out of work and need a source of income as they cannot find a job during the state of emergency,” stated the official.

To get unemployment benefit, the citizens must present an application to ask for the status of jobless person. The form can be downloaded from the website of the National Employment Agency. The application will be signed and submitted to the local unemployment agency, according to the place of residence or domicile. At request, the person can also need to attach a copy of the identity card and to present the document of study. Besides these documents, the applicants must present a statement to confirm that they do not work and do not have other incomes.

To simplify the bureaucratic procedures, the persons who cannot present the documents showing that they do not have incomes will sign an own responsibility statement concerning the correctness of the presented data.
