Stăuceni commune of Chisinau municipality could obtain the status of city. A draft law to this effect was approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, IPN reports.
“This change will bring more opportunities to access European funds, will attract larger investments into infrastructure projects and will increase the attractiveness of the locality for businesspeople, which means more jobs,” said Artur Mija, the Government’s secretary general.
The commune is composed of Stăuceni and Goianul Nou. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the population of the commune on January 1, 2023 was 9,295.
The bill to amend the Law on the administrative-territorial organization of the Republic of Moldova in order to give the status of urban locality to Stăuceni commune is to be debated and passed by Parliament.
