The exhibition dedicated to the liturgical flag of Stephan the Great, staged at the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova, has attracted over 17,000 visitors during less than two weeks, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Friday, the Museum’s deputy PR director Aurelia Kornetski said this is usually the number of visitors of the Museum during a quarter. She stated the exhibit was a delight for the Moldovan public eager to know the historical past and patrimony and an event designed to commemorate the ancestors.
Marin Maxian, a representative of the Ministry of the Interior, said that more than 1 000 employees ensured the security of the flag while it was being conveyed from the airport to the Museum and during the exhibition. The same number of police officers will be involved when the flag will be transported to the airport.
Those who did not manage to see the liturgical flag of Stephan the Great can do it on the last day of the exhibition on September 10.
Stephan the Great’s liturgical flag was brought to Chisinau on August 24 and exhibited at the National Museum of Archeology and History of Moldova on August 27, on the Independence Day. On September 12, it will be taken back to Bucharest. The flag represents Saint Martyr Gheorghe sitting on a throne between two angels guarding him. It dates from the year 1500. The exhibition was staged at a cost of 300,000 lei.
