The deputy commissioner of Straseni district Oleg Cociug was suspended from post several hours after his investiture. The reason was an internal inquiry into a case of violence involving Cociug that is conducted by the Ministry of the Interior, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the Ministry of the Interior, Oleg Cociug, ex-commissioner of Orhei district, was relegated last May. Immediately after this, Cociug filed a lawsuit against the Ministry of the Interior, demanding that he be reinstated as commissioner. His request was granted by a decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeals of July 10, 2012. The Ministry’s order was annulled. Oleg Cociug was reinstated as commissioner of Orhei district. Shortly afterward, the Ministry’s Police Department challenged the decision in the Supreme Court of Justice, which quashed the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeals and passed a new judgment, whereby the suit filed by Oleg Cociug against the Ministry was rejected as groundless. Under a decision taken by the Ministry of the Interior in May 2012, Oleg Cociug was relegated and was named deputy commissioner of Straseni district on January 22. By another order issued the same day, Oleg Cociug was suspended for the period of the internal inquiry.
