The NGO “Preda Destept” considers that “education in Moldova is outdated as a notion and concept and does not fit the modern times.” On Wednesday, October, 29, at a news conference at Info-Prim Neo Agency, the NGO's leader Oleg Beregoi gave the worst mark 2 to the quality of education provided by the Moldovan institutions. According to him, higher educational institutions “only produce unemployed, bartenders and illegal work immigrants.”
Oleg Beregoi said that his investigation method of the higher education situation in Moldova is interviewing. This way he concluded that “most pupils and students do not attend schools and universities on their own desire and pleasure, but only go there to entertain themselves and to chat with friends.”
The Preda Destept leader is not sure he would be heard by authorities, but thinks warns about the educational system situation must be uttered. Oleg Beregoi identifies different kinds of problems as corruption, low salaries of the staff, unskilled teachers, bad technical situation in institutions and “bad attitude of the state toward education.”
“Continuous degradation in institutions brings to indifference and degradation of society. Kindergartens and schools are in a deplorable situation,” the NGO’s leader concluded. Oleg Beregoi criticizes the decision of the Ministry of Education to merge some schools because they do not manage to gather more than 100 pupils. Preda Destept is not contented with the state’s decision “to reduce the university places with economic, political and juridical profiles – specialties teaching to think and oppose the rulers.”
Preda Destept was registered half a year ago by 8 Chisinau students.
