Candidates for the position of director of the National Anticorruption Center (NAC) will be able to apply between August 25 and September 15. The Parliament’s Legal Commission adopted an ordinance to this effect, reports Info-Prim Neo.
The candidates should have a degree in Law and at least 10 years of work experience in the judicial field. Additionally, they should not be, or have been for at least two years, members of any political Party. The admission contest is not open for people with a criminal record or those who, from a medical point of view, would not be able to exercise their function properly in case they are offered the position.
Organization and professional skill will be tested through a written test and an individual interview, which will take place between September 19 and 21. The contest’s results will be announced by the Commission during a special meeting, around September 28 till October 1. Until October 1, the Commission must present its candidate for the post of director of the NAC to Parliament.
At the end of May, the Parliament voted for the reform of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption (CCECC). The center will change its name into the National Anticorruption Center. The aim of the amendments is to take the center out of the jurisdiction of central public administration and the established of new criteria for hiring or firing the institution’s head. The change in the procedure is due to the idea that the leader of an anticorruption agency should be immune to political fluctuations. The CCECC reform is part of the Moldova-EU Action Plan for the liberalization of the visa regime.
