The Supreme Council of Magistracy gave its consent to bringing legal proceedings against the Chisinau Appeals Court judge Domnica Manole for passing an illegal judgment following a request made by acting prosecutor general Eduard Harunjen, IPN reports, quoting the Prosecutor General’s Office.
After the motivated decision is made public, legal action will be taken and the circumstances in which the judge passed the judgment of April 14, 2016, by which the Central Election Commission (CEC) was obliged to adopt a decision to initiate a constitutional referendum to amend the Constitution, will be examined.
The application to the Supreme Council of Magistracy was filed after the Supreme Court of Justice ruled that the judgment of April 14 was evidently illegal and after the CEC president Iurie Ciocan asked that the judge should be held accountable.
The Prosecutor General’s Office assures that the investigation will be objective and correspondingly transparent so that there is no room for erroneous interpretations and speculations, including political one, while the results of the investigation will be public.
