The Supreme Security Council convened by Acting President Mihai Ghimpu on September 3 will only take cognizance of the information about the accusations made by former presidential adviser Sergiu Mocanu against businessman Vlad Plahotniuc, which will be presented by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Prime Minister Vlad Filat said it is not within the competence of the Council to oblige the state institutions to take a certain attitude, but it can make recommendations.
When the news story was published, the Supreme Security Council was still in a meeting.
Two weeks ago, Mihai Ghimpu convoked the heads of the Security and Information Service, the Ministry of the Interior, the Prosecutor General’s Office and of the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime and instructed them to collect information about the Mocanu-Plahotniuc case. Mocanu accused Plahotniuc of controlling the state institutions and employing mafia schemes.
