The Moldovan round dance will be the symbol of the information campaign centering on the population and dwelling census, while its slogan will be “Be among those who count”. A relevant decision was taken by the national commission for holding the census scheduled for May 12-25 on April 15, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Government, by mapping the population and dwellings, the authorities aim to obtain data about the number of residents, territorial distribution, demographic, ethnic-cultural, educational and economic characteristics, the dwelling sector and apartment buildings and to assess the people’s living conditions. This census will cover even the smallest settlements of the country.
The information collected by questionnaires will confidential. More than 1,000 census takers will be involved in data collection. For the first time, there will be gathered information about the dwelling units and collective dwelling areas. The National Bureau of Statistics is the central specialized body responsible for the organization and taking of the census, processing of the obtained information, generalization and dissemination of the results.
The last population census in Moldova was taken in 2004.
