The list was compiled on the basis of a survey carried out in libraries, cinemas, theaters, etc. Half of the respondents were from Chisinau.
According to Nina Negru, the head of the National Library’s Studies and Researches Service, the classic writers were not included in the list of proposed books. “We are always looking for something new. We do not center on republishing, but on what the Bessarabians publish in Moldova and other countries.
“There are many young people that study in Romania or other countries and remain there forever. Many of them publish books, but we don’t even know about them. That’s why, we proposed national writers that issued books in Moldova and abroad,” Negru said.
