Teachers’ salaries higher from September 1

The teachers will receive higher salaries from September 1. According to Deputy Minister of Education Tatiana Potang, teachers’ pays will rise by 12.5%, this being the third salary raise after those of September 1, 2010 and January 1, 2011, Info-Prim Neo reports. Tatiana Potang said the rise in teachers’ salaries is stipulated in the state budget law for 2011. A sum of 33 million lei was earmarked for the purpose. More than 69,000 employees working in the education sector will benefit from pay raises. Thus, the minimum salary of teachers will rise to 2 500 lei, while the highest salary to over 5 000 lei. According to the Ministry of Education, the salaries in the education sector in 2010 were increased by 24%.
