Teachers will sign individual contracts for a definite period when employed

The teachers will be selected by contest and will sign individual work contracts for a definite period when employed. The Government made relevant changes to a number of legislative acts, including the Labor Code, the Law on Public Finances, and the Law on Administrative Decentralization, Info-Prim Neo reports. It was also proposed excluding the general secondary education from the structure of education and eliminating the norms concerning the number of students in classes or of children in kindergarten groups. Minister of Education Mihai Shleahtitski said these norms will be set annually, depending on the real number of children/students. Other amendments concern the regulation of the activity of the district schools and the financing of preuniversity education institutions. The secondary schools and lyceums may be financed by the public authorities of the second level (district) instead of the public authorities of the first level. The minister said that these amendments are required by the education reform that is under implementation.
