TechFest is the first Technical Festival that was opened at the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) on May 2. Within it, national companies aim to promote talented students by different contests, Info-Prim Neo reports. The event was organized by the European student organization BEST Chisinau with the support of StarNet. According to the organizers, the festival will bring together the most ingenious engineering students of the UTM who want a career in the field and ICT companies that will support them. Students from other universities can also take part. The aim of the festival is to develop the competitive spirit of the engineering students and to offer them possibilities of improving their skills. The participants will be able to compete in the contests organized by StarNet and Orhei Vit, training seminars on different themes, society and computer games, and a roundtable meeting. UTM pro-rector Valentin Amariei said it is a very good initiative as it allows the students to showcase their talents and to take part in training seminars and master classes that will help them easier find a job. Within the festival, StarNet will organize a roundtable meeting where it will discuss problems related to the curriculum and how it can be adjusted to employers’ needs with students, teachers and representatives of companies. The results of the discussion will be sent to the Ministry of Education. “We support and encourage events that offer the students the chance to discover their abilities and to try new things.
