The public broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” on May 3 launches the public TV channel Moldova 2. The channel will start work at 1:30pm by broadcasting the first Table Tennis Cup for journalists “Press Open Moldova 1”. Programs director of the new TV channel Ilona Spataru has told IPN that initially they will mainly retransmit programs of the public channel Moldova 1.
Ilona Spataru said that today they will also broadcast different archive programs, including an edition with philosopher Alexandru Cosmescu and a number of documentaries.
Moldova 2 programs director said they aim to diversify the information and to ensure access to information from different areas, not only from the political and economic spheres. “We must also cover the social and cultural spheres. The reanimation of the archive is a novelty for Moldova 2. Hundreds of thousands of hours were filmed since the public TV channel was launched. Regretfully, these are not used because there is not enough space on Moldova 1,” stated Ilona Spataru.
The director also said that the public TV channel cooperates with partners from Romania, Georgia and Ukraine and with the office of Radio Free Europe in Prague so as to broadcast documentaries made by foreign journalists.
Ilona Spataru noted that in autumn the team of Moldova 2 will start to produce a number of original programs. “Until we grow the public, we will retransmit mainly the programs of Moldova 1,” she stated.
Moldova 2 will broadcast nonstop, by cable, and will have national coverage. It will transmit different important sports and cultural events from the country and abroad.
