The Theater Union from Moldova (UNITEM) announces a contest for its vacancies. “We pleaded to change the Soviet-era organizational structure and I am sure the union will be represented by genuine specialists,” Info-Prim Neo has learned from the newly-elected president of UNITEM, Sandu Grecu, the director of Satiricus Ion Luca Caragiale Theater. The contest will last two weeks, and then the winners will be employed. “UNITEM used to work in its old formula, with a shapeless structure. No theatrical union from the former Soviet republics works like that, not speaking about the European countries. We proposed another organizational chart to change the work of the union completely,” Sandu Grecu said. Sandu Grecu is certain he will be able to cope with his duties of a theater director and a president of the theater union. “We used to have a mistaken vision that the position of the Union's president should be occupied by a veteran. I consider that both the president and the members should work on the stage.” Sandu Grecu was elected as UNITEM's president by majority of votes at the theater people's congress on May 11. Since there were few members of UNITEM's senate attending the congress, the previous leadership of the union questioned the result of the vote at the Justice Ministry. The Ministry is to announce its view on June 4.
