There would be no Resurrection without Nativity

The Nativity is just as important as the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and Christmas is an occasion for joy and solidarity. This is what the churchgoers who came to Christmas’ Eve service at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Nativity think.
“If there wouldn’t have been the Nativity, there wouldn’t have been a Resurrection either. The Nativity of Jesus is the most important holiday for me. He who was born for us, for our sins, lead us to absolution. All what’s left for us is to repent and abstain from sinning”, Sergiu, a parishioner from Chisinau, told Info-Prim Neo, adding that he tries to make it every year to the Nativity Liturgy.
Andrei, who came from the left bank of the Nistru River to be present at Chisinau’s Cathedral service, says that the Nativity of Christ symbolizes the salvation of the world, although people, says he, are still sinners. “Our society has become more divided, more fragmented because of the multitude of confessions, excess of freedom and democracy, ethnical and linguistic conflicts. I hope that at least this holy day manages to unite the people and make them forget their troubles and feuds”, Andrei mentioned.
Part of Moldova’s Christians celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December, according to the Gregorian calendar. Others still continue to celebrate according to old customs, on January 7th.
