A number of minibus drivers said they had to stop work because they were intimidated by colleagues working on route No. 155, who went on strike. The information was confirmed for IPN by two route administrators.

The administrator of the municipal routes No. 110, 104, 171 and 174 Mihai Reus said the drivers of routes No. 104 and 110 work in normal regime, but those from routes No. 171 and 174, which run near the termini of route No. 155, are threatened with use of violence and the damaging of their units of transport.

The administrator of route No. 180 Ofrim Nutu confirmed that the drivers are threatened. They are told that if they do not join the protests, they will have the windows of their vehicles broken.

Contacted by IPN to comment on these accusations, the administrator of route No.155 Afanasie Smochin didn’t answer the phone. In the morning, Smochin has told IPN that not he initiated the strike, but the drivers who refuse to work owing to the increasing pressure exerted by the police and the low minibus fares set by the municipality. He said that he holds talks with the drivers, but could not say when they will return to work.
