Three Balti doctors caught taking bribe

Three doctors of the Consultative Center of the Balti Municipal Clinical Hospital are suspected of passive corruption. The medical registrar, narcologist and psychiatrist, who are members of a medical commission, were caught in the act of taking money from a man in exchange for issuing him with a medical certificate for driving courses, IPN has learned from the General Police Inspectorate.

Officers of the Balti Police Inspectorate arrested the doctors when they were receiving 600 lei. The doctors face three to seven years behind bars and a fine of 80,000 to 120,000 lei for passive corruption. They will also be banned from holding particular public posts or performing particular activities for a period of 5 to 10 years.
