The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis conferred by presidential decree the Anniversary Medal “Centenary of the Great Union” on the “B.P. Hașdeu” Municipal Library, the “B.P. Hașdeu” Institute of Romanian Philology and the National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Moldova. The medals and relevant brevets were handed over by Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ioniță in a ceremony staged at the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau, IPN reports.
In a press release, the Embassy says the event opened the series of specific activities that the Embassy will organize to mark this year the National Day of Romania in special conditions dictated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Daniel Ioniță congratulated the managers of the institutions, saying he was honored to have been once again empowered to award excellence, this time in arts and education. “The language and culture of a nation are defining, essential elements of the identity fiber, are an inestimable treasure that defies time, mentality and borders, which often necessitated sacrifices and which tells its real story to the current and future generations,” stated the Romanian diplomat.
Daniel Ioniță appreciated the involvement and passion of the managers and staff of the awarded education and arts institutions, which made the organization of prominent artistic and scientific events possible in the year when it was celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Great Union of 1918. “The events aimed to promote values and excellence and amply showed our common attachment to the European values.”
