The United Moldova Party, the “New Force” Movement and the Republican People's Party will run in the June 5 local elections en bloc. The agreement to constitute the electoral bloc “Third Force” was signed on April 19, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Vladimir Turcanu, president of the United Moldova Party, said the society is now divided into Communists and anti-Communists and thus a new, third force is needed to strengthen society. “We hope that this third force will be accepted by the people,” said Vladimir Turcan, adding the bloc is open to other parties that want to join them.
The leader of the Republican People's Party Nicolae Andronic said that during the last two years the Moldovans have been deceived for numerous times. Therefore, the three political forces decided to join in order to offer the voters an alternative.
Valeriu Plesca, who heads the sociopolitical movement “New Force”, is the bloc's candidate for mayor general of Chisinau. He said that if he becomes mayor, he will make sure that the pensioners travel by public transport free of charge and will set up a chain of social shops called “Veteran”.
On March 23, the Movement “New Force” and the Republican People's Party announced that they decided to merge with the United Moldova Party. On April 12, Valeriu Plesca said the merger was postponed until after the elections.
