Three employees of the National Patrolling Inspectorate are investigated by officers of the National Anticorruption Center for passive corruption. One of the policemen was put under arrest for 72 hours, while the other two are investigated on the outside, IPN reports.
According to the National Anticorruption Center, the arrested policeman works at the Cahul Police Inspectorate. He is suspected of asking 2,000 lei from a driver for not presenting himself in court as a witness to the offense. The police officer was arrested immediately after taking the money.
Another two policemen of the South Battalion of the National Patrolling Inspectorate are suspected of asking 1,000 lei from a motorist for not holding him accountable for not having documents of ownership for the vehicle he drove.
So far this year, the National Anticorruption Center has started 48 criminal cases over corruption involving police officers.
