TNT Bravo fined 5,400 lei

The Broadcasting Coordination Council (BCC) imposed a fine of 5,400 lei on the TV channel TNT Bravo for violating the advertising rules. Tvcom was penalized by being warned publicly for committing similar violations, while another six TV channels received preliminary warnings. The decisions were taken in the May 12 meeting of the Council, Info-Prim Neo reports. Member of the BCC apparatus Anatol Barsa said the Advertising Law says the advertisements for the same merchandise at one radio station or TV channel can be broadcast at most two times during one hour, with a total length of two minutes. The monitoring performed by the Council revealed that a number of channels deviated from the given norms. Thus, NIT, Euro TV, N4, Pro TV, Publika TV and Jurnal TV were warned, while TNT Bravo and Tvcom were penalized as they had committed similar violations before. BCC member Gheorghe Gorincioi said the warnings do not produce the expected results so that they should take tougher measures. The Broadcasting Coordination Council will continue to monitor the penalized broadcasters.
