Trade unionists request setting an official minimum salary not lower than the subsistence minim. In the future, this should be raised to 50-60% of the average salary in the economy. These are the main demands formulated by the trade unions as a result of a meeting entitled “Stop enrichment by exploitation of salary earners”. The demands will be submitted to decision makers, IPN reports.

Among the demands of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova is to clear the salary arrears, to amend the legislation on remuneration, to reduce the discrepancy between the salaries of different categories of employees, to work out a strategy for creating workplaces, to counteract the undeclared labor and illegal payment of salaries, to unity the pension system in Moldova and not to allow increasing the retirement age limit.

The trade unionists said the necessity of such demands appeared as a result of the unjust enrichment of employers by the exploitation of employees. It is thus necessary to reduce the fiscal burden by increasing the personal income tax exemptions for natural persons up to the subsistence minimum and to amend the legislation on mandatory health insurance.

The meeting was held on the occasion of the World Day for Decent Work, which is annually marked by the trade unions around the world on October 7.
